Enoch--"He was not; for God took him."

"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
Hebrews 11:5

"And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. "
Genesis 5:18-24

Very little is known about Enoch; however, we do know that he "walked with God" (Gen. 5:24), had a strong testimony for God, and prophesied of the coming judgment (Jude 14, 15).

When Enoch was 365 years old (Gen. 5:23), it appears that God took him directly into glory. Enoch was one of only two men in the bible who did not die but were taken directly to heaven. (the other man was Elijah)

Could it be said of you that you "walked with God"? Do other people see Christ when they see you?

"Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord"
2 Tim. 1:8a

  • Luke 3:37
  • Jude 14, 15
